Before I Die is the latest and perhaps greatest public art project by artist and urban planner Candy Chang. In ‘Before I Die’ she has painted a huge abandoned house in Nola, New Orleans into public chalk board, which invites the public to write down their ambitions for the world to see. Local residents have finished the lines with their life-long dreams and hopes.

Bio Rio – an original 1940s cinema in Stockholm recently got an impressive make-over, handled by Swedish design bureau 1:2:3 and Kristoffer Sundin. For them, the main aim was to provide adaptable furniture and lighting for the space. Tables and chairs can also be easily moved around to turn the daily coffee shop into the ideal place for meetings and seminars. Even the typography is adaptable, with all signs written manually by staff. It leads to a space where the atmosphere in the room can easily be changed with a few simple and stylish adjustments. I personally think it looks excellent!

Swedish Form Us With Love is the design studio behind this elegant “Dandy” exhibition at Stockholm’s Nordic Museum. I really like the creative approach with dismembered mannequins, fused with MDF boxes that give the appearance of a stonemason having started work on sculptures but only finishing the sections necessary for the exhibition.

How do you connect the street wear brand WESC to music/art and make the experience so interesting that people want to share it? A team from Hyper Island has created a concept that’s certainly intriguing! Read more about the project here.

I really like the Fictions series by Belgian artist-photographer Filip Dujardin. He takes photographs of nondescript, often post-modern buildings and remixes them using Photoshop to create strange hybrids. Stunning!

Pentagram’s Paula Scher has designed graphics for a Midtown Manhattan garage that make sure drivers never forget where the car is. The interior signage acts as a kind of backseat driver as typography throughout the building directs drivers what to do and where to go.

I recently came across the work of Dutch streetartist DeltaInc. Wauw, he certainly knows how to do 3D art and play around with geometrical forms. Check out more of his stuff here.

This inflatable pillow on stilts is a picnic pavilion designed by Dutch design studio Overtreders W. Called The Roof That Goes Up in Smoke, the inflatable roof is filled with hot air heated by a wood stove, the centrepiece of the pavilion, and provides shelter for the bar and picnic tables below. The pavilion was created for Allerzielen.nu, an event celebrating the festival of All Souls Day, and was installed at three locations.

I just love the work of Japanese Hiromura design office. They have a really impressive portfolio of signage systems – all so simple and beautiful. I love their minimalistic approach to design – the founder Masaaki Hiromura has even said when being asked about the future of signage systems: “the ideal signage system is the one which doesn’t need any signs, I wish it could access one’s brain directly”. I couldn´t agree more.
